Thinking of Relocating? Reno Has Something for Everyone!
Reno is quickly becoming one of the most popular places to live in the United States. In fact, we were recently ranked the #1 Best Small City, One of the 12 Best Places to Live, and in the Top 25 Mid-sized Metros in the Nation for Recent College Grads. Reno has been growing exponentially due to the investment in the region by popular tech companies such as Tesla, Google, Switch and Apple. This trend continues the diversification of Reno’s economy from historically gaming and tourism to more technically advanced educated jobs. Another great advantage to Reno, is that there is no state income tax!
Reno sits in the Great Basin of the stunning Sierra Nevada Mountains, making it a desirable destination for outdoor enthusiasts. The Truckee River runs through the city, including the half-mile Truckee River Whitewater Park. Several beautiful golf courses are located throughout the valley. Twenty-five minutes from Reno is the majestic, internationally known, Lake Tahoe, which sits on the border of Nevada and California. Lake Tahoe offers a multitude of year-round recreational opportunities. In the summer, you can enjoy kayaking, wake-surfing, or stand-up paddleboarding. The surrounding mountains also offer mountain biking and hiking trails for participants of all levels. Tahoe also is world-renowned for its snow skiing resorts. Mt. Rose is the closest resort to Reno, located about thirty minutes away, and other nearby ski resorts include Diamond Peak and NorthStar at Tahoe.
There are also many community festivals and events held each year in or around Reno. In the fall, we have the Great Reno Balloon Race, which is the largest hot-air ballooning event in the world. Also in the fall, Reno is home to the National Championship Air Races. The Burning Man Festival is held in the Black Rock Desert and is an international expression of art and attracts participants from all over the globe. For automotive enthusiasts, the summer in Reno hosts Hot August Nights, which is a tribute to classic cars and hot rods. For those who love motorcycles, Street Vibrations brings thousands of riders to the community.
There are also plenty of sporting activities in Reno. The National Bowling Stadium also hosts a variety of national events and attracts bowlers from across the country. The Reno Aces, the Triple-A baseball affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks, play their home games at Greater Nevada Field.
The University of Nevada Reno is a tier 1 university and has NCAA football, basketball, baseball, and softball. The university has a beautiful, growing campus located just north of the downtown area.
With the hotel and casino culture in the city, along with the revitalization of districts like Midtown, you’ll find that the culinary world in Reno is excellent as well. You can find everything from Asian fusion and French to tapas and traditional steakhouses. There are new restaurants opening all the time, giving you a chance to try something new almost every week.
