Description

The University of South Florida (USF) Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology  is seeking a Program Director to lead our ACGME-accredited OB/GYN  Residency.

The goal of the program is to train our 24 residents in the skills and concepts necessary to practice the full spectrum of care in Obstetrics and Gynecology, providing respectful, equitable, and high quality, evidence-based patient care. We strive to do so in an environment that promotes scholarly activity, enhances interpersonal relationships, and celebrates inclusion. Strengths of the residency program include comprehensive training in low risk and high-risk obstetrics, high volume of complex gynecological surgery and oncological surgery, and the opportunity to care for a diverse and vibrant community of patients who seek care with us in all stages of their lives.

The successful candidate will be a strong leader with academic and clinical acumen. Communication skills and appreciation for collaborative models of teaching are necessary to continue the expansion of our programs with our affiliate clinical sites.   

The department sponsors ACGME accredited fellowships in Gynecologic Oncology, Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, and Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery (FPMRS).    

 The program director will have .50 FTE dedicated to the role, with the remainder in clinical practice with USF Health.  Applicants must have a demonstrated commitment to teaching and education with at least three years of recent experience as a Program Director, Associate Program Director, Student Clerkship Director or core faculty leadership experience in an accredited OB/GYN education program. Applicants must be board certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology and must have completed fellowship training appropriate to their clinical subspecialty, if applicable.

Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Provide mission-driven leadership for all residency program functions, including clinical rotations, didactics, research and scholarship, and recruitment.
  2. Ensure a comprehensive clinical educational experience aligned with ACGME requirements and the goals of our trainees
  3. Create a culture of scholarship, excellence and inclusion  
  4. Serve as a national leader for innovative training models in education in OB/GYN
  5. Coordinate with residents to advocate for tangible changes that positively impact resident education and well-being Ensure best practices of adherence with ACGME standards, including curriculum development, trainee evaluation and feedback, policy development and implementation, monitoring duty hours and trainee wellness, while also assessing and documenting the competency of each trainee and continually evaluating the educational process.
  6.   Liaison with the USF  Office of Graduate Medical Education  
  7. Collaborate closely with affiliate site leadership and faculty at Tampa General Hospital and Moffitt Cancer Center to create high-quality educational experiences 
  8. Cultivate a culture that expands our existing educational initiatives  
  9. Lead the recruitment, orientation, training, and evaluation of residents
  10. In addition to duties as Residency Program Director, the selected candidate will also provide clinical services and direct supervision of residents in inpatient and/or outpatient settings. This is separate from the administrative responsibilities as program director.


Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS
At the time of application, candidates must have the following qualifications:
• MD or related degree and  board certification  in Obstetrics and Gynecology

  • Must have or be eligible for a Florida medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board.
    • Three or more years of leadership and administrative experience in an ACGME-accredited training program(s).
    • Strong communication skills and leadership ability.
    • Demonstration of outstanding academic accomplishments and trajectory which may include innovative educational program development, excellence in teaching, clinical leadership, or research.
