Description

The New York University Silver School of Social Work (SSSW) invites applications for two full-time faculty positions - one tenure-track assistant professor, and one tenured associate professor. The 9-month tenured/tenure-track appointment will begin September 1, 2022.

We seek faculty with expertise across the curricular areas at Silver, which currently include practice (including macro practice), policy, research, human behavior, and Diversity-Racism-Oppression-and-Privilege. Examples of specific research areas may include, but are not limited to: children and families, aging, health (including palliative care or integrative health), mental health, racism, poverty and inequality, prevention science, environmental social work, or addictions. Candidates with scholarship that builds on the strengths of the SSSW, and those with expertise in practice working with diverse populations are preferred.

SSSW is an international leader in social work research and education and offers outstanding support for scholarship. Located in Greenwich Village on Washington Square Park and in one of the world’s great urban research universities, the SSSW is one of the 14 schools and colleges of NYU, the largest private university in the USA, with students from all 50 states and more than 100 nations. The diversity of the academic community and the incomparable resources of New York City enrich the academic programs and campus life of NYU and the SSSW.

Requirements

A doctoral degree in social work or a related field is required, along with an outstanding record of scholarship, including a well-conceptualized research agenda, evidence of extramural funding (or potential to secure extramural funding for assistant professor candidates), and publications in peer-reviewed venues. In addition to conducting research, the successful candidate will teach in the School’s academic programs (BSW, MSW, PhD, and/or DSW), and be fully engaged in professional service and leadership at the SSSW and New York University (NYU). Applicants should exhibit a commitment to social and economic justice and possess an ability to facilitate conversations concerning privilege, oppression, and intersecting social identities.

Application Instructions

Review of applications will begin on October 22, 2021. We invite applicants for both positions to apply via Interfolio and upload a letter of application, curriculum vitae, and an equity, diversity, and inclusion statement.

Applicants should also upload a research statement, a teaching statement, and two representative publications as “Additional Documents” for their application to be considered complete. For best consideration, applications should be submitted by October 22nd; however, all applications will be reviewed until the positions are filled.
