Our sole focus is in providing the highest standard of individualized clinical care to people experiencing infertility in an environment that is caring, sensitive, responsive and knowledgeable.
The Center is a vital part of the UConn School of Medicine. As an academic affiliate, we provide fellowships for newly graduated MD’s in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. The Center for Advanced Reproductive Services meets the highest national standards for clinical fertility services and laboratory standards. All of our physicians are board certified or active candidates for board certification in reproductive endocrinology and infertility. We are a member of the Society of Assisted Reproductive Technologies (SART), under the auspices of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine, and have reported our success rates to SART since 1991. Our laboratory meets the standards established by the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act (CLIA) and is accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP). We are a licensed ambulatory surgery center with the State of CT Department of Health.
We have three state-of-the-art locations for the convenience of all of our patients – our new, world-class facility in Farmington, Connecticut, as well as offices in Hartford and New London, Connecticut. At all of these locations we offer a wide range of services – from the initial treatments to the very advanced – to help individuals and couples build families. And since going through fertility treatments can require many trips to our facilities, our offices are conveniently located off of main highway routes with private parking, private waiting areas, and comfortable, patient-friendly rooms.

Company History
The Center for Advanced Reproductive Services (CARS) was formerly known as the Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Division of the Department Of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Connecticut Health Center (UConn). The program has been in existence since 1985 and began on the main campus of the University of Connecticut Health Center in Farmington, CT.
In 1998, UConn sought to operate The Program more efficiently and profitably, while maintaining high quality patient care. To that end, UConn and In Vitro Sciences, Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of Women’s Health USA, Inc. entered upon a 15 year management agreement. At that time the name of the program was changed to The Center for Advanced Reproductive Services, PC (CARS). CARS was the legal entity which operated The Program at UConn from 1998-2014.
In 2015 UConn announced that as part of BioScience Connecticut the building which housed the CARS program was scheduled for demolition. CARS then made the decision to purchase its own building located at 2 Batterson Park Road, Farmington CT and re-define its relationship with UConn.
CARS now functions as a private practice but continues to be a vital part of the UConn community. It is an academic affiliate of the UConn school of Medicine. CARS continues to manage UConn’s REI Fellowship and is engaged in all levels of Graduate Medical Education. Our clinical team remains actively engaged in research and we employ PhD and administrative staff to support that effort.
In addition CARS continues to receive operational support through its affiliation with UConn. This support includes, but is not limited to transfer of care, Radiology, Radiation Safety, Clinical Engineering and Internal Review Board.
CARS is the only full line provider of advanced reproductive services in the immediate area. The main office is located at 2 Batterson Park Road, Farmington, CT. The Center is conveniently located near highway and alternative local access roads. Our patient base draws primarily between the ages of 21 and 45 years of age. Effective in the fall of 2006, Connecticut enacted mandatory insurance coverage for infertility treatment. However, there are numerous restrictions included in the mandate. Approximately 75% of out patients have some form of insurance provider coverage for infertility treatment.
Since its inception, CARS has grown to provide a comprehensive range of advanced reproductive technologies including: complete infertility testing and treatment, ovulation induction services including intrauterine inseminations, in-vitro fertilization, male infertility treatment program, intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ISCI), embryo cryopreservation, pre-implantation genetic diagnosis (PGD), anonymous egg donor (AED), gestational carrier, embryo donation, and therapeutic donor insemination services (TDI) and egg freezing.
CARS has grown considerable during the last 15 years and presently performs between 1000 and 1200 IVF cycle starts per year and approximately 1300 intrauterine insemination cycles per year.
In 2007 a satellite office was opened in Hartford. In 2012 an office was opened in New London. These satellite offices provide patient intake services and limited reproductive treatment and lab services such as ultrasounds, semen analysis and intrauterine inseminations. All IVF retrievals and transfers and embryology are preformed at the Farmington campus only.
CARS’ Andrology and IVF laboratory provides a full range of andrology and IVF services and is accredited by the College of American Pathologist (CAP) and licensed by CLIA as a high complexity lab. CARS is also accredited by The American Institute of Ultrasound Medicine (AIUM). The CARS Farmington office is licensed by the Connecticut Department of Public Health. CARS participants in statistical reporting and benchmarking with SART, the Society for Advanced Reproductive Technologies.
